Michael T. O’Connor, DDS

Michael T. O’Connor, DDS, is a co-owner of High Peaks Dental and a proud North Country native. He was raised in Dannemora, New York, and graduated from St. John’s Academy in Plattsburgh. Dr. O’Connor earned a BS in chemistry from LeMoyne College and pursued graduate work in organic chemistry at Providence College.

Before attending dental school, Dr. O’Connor taught math for one year and high school chemistry for three years. He later graduated from Georgetown University School of Dentistry and completed a rotating residency at Worcester Memorial Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Dr. O’Connor is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, having passed the rigorous certification exam. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the New York Dental Association, the Fourth District Dental Society, and the Adirondack Dental Society. Additionally, he is a member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS) and holds New York State certification for oral conscious sedation.

Dr. O’Connor is dedicated to lifelong learning and exceeds the minimum continuing education hours required each year. He has served on numerous community and professional boards, including the American Cancer Society, the Beartown Ski Area, and the Fourth District Dental Society Board of Directors. He has also held leadership roles, serving as president of the Adirondack Dental Society and the Beartown ski team and as a coach for YMCA baseball and basketball teams and Little League baseball teams. He is a member of the Foundation Board for the ARC.

Dr. O’Connor’s athletic achievements include playing basketball, baseball, and golf at the high school level, as well as basketball and golf at the collegiate level. Today, he remains passionate about downhill skiing in the winter and golfing in the summer. He is also an active member of the SGA.

One of his greatest joys has been watching his sons compete at the Division I collegiate level in their respective sports.

Dr. O’Connor has been married to his high school sweetheart, Meredith, since 1970. Meredith is a retired elementary art teacher and the mother of their two sons.
